Dear all.
For more than 3 years I’m happy to serve my client, A school on Curacao with 2 servers installed with SME Server.
But luckily for me, I got a new career opportunity, that means I have to stop this side job I really enjoyed.
The problem is that there is on Curacao the network companies and system administrators are still afraid to do something else than Microsoft has directed them to do (stick with windows also for servers)
To find persons that are interested in Linux servers and find the perfect person to take my place without having the whole school being changed into windows I would like to organize an kind of workshop where I invite the above mentioned persons to come to the school and do a test installation on empty computers.
As it’s still only an idea I do not have the agenda as yet but it would be something like this:
I’m the main presenter, and I will invite another Linux minded person to back me up in some items.
I will give a brief presentation about what the server does, what it can do, how it has been setup at the school and how it is compared with windows (invite a windows person to stand by in this)
Then we will provide each person or if there are too many people each group 2 pc’s one with windows (client) and one empty and they will install SME server as a domain controller.
My question to the community of SME server is, who will be able to “skype” in during the introduction and give an introduction of a few minutes about the server?
I hope that the SME community will stand me by in this and make this workshop an success.
For sure I will ask the people attending the workshop to do a donation to the community afterwards….
Kind regards,
Hendrik Kroon
