I use a lot of this disks and never have issues, verify If you can see the HDD in the computer BIOS and the HDD is the device sda (SATA 0) first SATA some times this happen when the CD is SATA 0, If you see that all is ok and you get the same error, try erasing the partition tables with GPartEd live CD (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php) and format as EXT3 using GPartEd, If It can do it the SME Installation CD can do it too.

Best Regards

Download the GPartEd boot with the CD/USB and use the GUI to format your HDD, If you have a Windows Computer, connect your HDD to the Win PC using a USB adapter or direct as secondary SATA and format as regular NTFS, just to test and destroy any data inside the HDD (in Win this is really slow!), but the recomendation is use the GPartEd

It shows the HDD in BIOS and use Windows re-format the HDD already.

Insert the GParted image disk and shows

BOOT FAILED
This Debian Live image failded to boot.

live-boot will now start a shell. The error message was:
Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

BusyBox v1.18.4 (Debian 1:1.18.4-1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/bn/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)

What the next to do?

Thanks

Im thinking in this 2 steps to test again,

1.. change the CD reader to test the installation again

2.. Reburn the Installation ISO (I use imgburn for Win from http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.5.5.0.exe)

After this test the installation again

PS. additional questions: The CD/DVD is IDE primary/secundary or SATA primary/secundary?, The HDD is IDE primary/secundary or SATA primary/secundary?, there is USB or eSATA HDD connected? any other info that you think could be relevant?
