Which networkcard is supported for SMDE 7x.
I tried a networkcard from sitecom but with the installation it does not recognize.

The SME "Smolt" page shows all network cards actually in use by SME servers:
http://smolt.contribs.org/static/stats/by_class_NETWORK.html

SME 7.x should support any hardware that is supported by Centos 4 (but the Centos wiki only lists 3 Realtek NICs):

Thanks for the reply. I bought today a Linksys pci networkcard and it has a cdrom included with Linuxdriver. Can I also install the driver from the cdrom on the SMEServer? And then when installed can I configure the gateway and server manually ?

If the extra driver is actually needed, perhaps these instructions in http://wiki.contribs.org/Booting could help:

If you have a driver disk type

The cdrom has this driver eg1032v3.tgz so I have to compile it myself.
How can I mount the cdrom with the driver in the terminal.

Input: IMHO this is not worth..
every time you'll update your server with newer kernel you'll have to ricompile the driver..
buy a supported nic

realtek chipsets usually have performance issues and sometime compatibility ones..

I repeat, intel is the way to go..

I've used these: http://www.acesdirect.nl/product/110329/intel_pro_1000gtenet_pci/

PCI instead of PCI-E though...
