Email settings

I read the manual and the howto but I could not find any examples how to configure the EmailServer and the EmailClient.
Have somebody an example for me of settings EmailServer and Emailclient.

I think you should start to say what you do not was able to do.

The SME server cames pre configurated as mail server. If you have your server as server-gateway and it´s connected to internet and configurated with your domain, it should receive messages right after boot up.

To configure your software clients, just answer the question about server with your server name or server ip.
Thunderbird does a magnificent job to guess all options... just do not ask me to help you with M$ crap (Outlook Express, Outlook or LiveMail).
To help with those, just google for them. Be warned M$ do not play fair games and do not respect standards... so if you have problems with e-mail , just try another client!

I have the follows settings pop.casema.nl and smtp.casema.nl where can I put those settings in SMEServer.
And I use OutlookExpress for the Emailclient.

Just use casema.nl for your pop & smtp (&imap) server settings in your email client (assuming of course that domain name is a valid domain name on your server and is resolvable locally & externally. First I am sorry for my Englsih it is not so good.
Normally my settings from my Internetprovider for reciving Email in OutlookExpress are pop.casema.nl and smtp.casema.nl
my Emailadress is ldompeling@casema.nl Those settings I have it now in OutlookExpress for reciving Email.
My server name on SMEServer is mycompany.local. Must I change this settings to casema.nl for reciving Email from the SMEServer ?
My username is Loek. Do I have to add my username in users from the server-manager to ?
I hope it is clear now.

Yes, but you need to start by getting a far better understanding of running your own server and domain.

From the limited amount of data you provide in this thread I get the impression you are willing to run a mailserver at your home connection, this is perfectly possible, but nor for the domain of your provider (casema.nl), they already run a mail server for that domain on which your mail is received.

SME Server has a internal mailserver that is capable of handling mail for domains, but you will need to have your own domain name, which is also a valid domain name, domains ending in .local are not a valid domain, domains ending on .nl for instance are.

To fetch your casema.nl mail for your casema hosted e-mailaddress you should just configure your local mail client as you normally do and make sure that SMTP proxy (in the e-mail settings tab on your server manager) on your server is disabled, that way you should be able to have your mail client reach the casema.nl mail server to collect your mail.

If you really want to inject the mail form your casema.nl account into a local account on your SME Server you can use the fetchmail contrib that you can find in the wiki, but I doubt that is what you are after since you do not have a valid domain from which you can send mail.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. No, this is a little confused. The SMTP proxy only interferes with the sending of mail. Collecting of mail is done via an IMAP or IMAPS connection to the ISP. OP's mail client should be able to reach casema.nl mail server to collect email, no matter what the SMTP proxy setting.

Thanks for the addition, but I thought not to confuse OP to much and thought if he was to download his mail, he would most likely also want to sent it using the providers servers.
