Mysql access denied ;-(

Mysql access denied ;-(
« on: July 07, 2002, 04:35:48 AM »
Hi, I'm sticking around with a netautor install on my SME box.
I did a subdomain and put it into an ibay, no way. Then I used the primary one to hold the
files, no way; still the same story;

"Warning: Host 'mercur.ixconsulting.dyndns.org' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server in /home/e-smith/files/primary/html/napro4/include/functions/mysql.fnc on line 90"

Do I have to grant permission for each virtual domain I do , even all requests are originating from the same ip ?
I am open for suggestions ;-)

Thank you, Peter

Peter

,... now I'v tried granting access to the db for  user netautor and get the same error:

mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON netautor.* TO netautor@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'netautor';
No connection. Trying to reconnect...
ERROR 1130: Host 'mercur.ixconsulting.dyndns.org' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server
ERROR:
Can't connect to the server

It has to have something to do with the dns service I'm using, still thinking and getting some coffee ;-)

Any help will be very appreciated ,

,... now I see this :

mercur smb: smbd -HUP succeeded
Jul  7 08:05:26 mercur e-smith-bg: Reloading smb.conf file: [   OK   ]^M
Jul  7 08:13:47 mercur identd[2287]: missing parameter in /etc/identd.masq: #------------------------------------------------------------
Jul  7 08:13:47 mercur identd[2287]: Returned: 61016 , 110 : NO-USER

What on hell is identd.masq ?

Will have to find it out  :-)

You need to edit the /etc/identd.masq file and delete the following lines:

#------------------------------------------------------------
# DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE! It is updated automatically by the
# SME Server software. Instead, modify the source template in
# an /etc/e-smith/templates-custom directory. For more
# information, see http://www.e-smith.org/custom/

Good luck,

...or to do it the e-smith way:

touch /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/identd.masq/template-begin

Now expand the template:
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/identd.masq

Hi Jeroen, thank's a lot for the advice. I have done a reset of the mysql psw and thing's went quite well, exept now I'm getting this:

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/e-smith/files/primary/html/napro4/include/functions/mysql.fnc on line 237

Warning: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO) in /home/e-smith/files/primary/html/napro4/include/functions/mysql.fnc on line 91

I believe some coding is needed here, but I still do not understand why it's saying "using password:  no" even the initial setup went quite smothely , just had to reset ownership in the primary directory ;-)

I am trying to use netautor http://www.netautor.com , an excellent php app server. Give it a try , so maybe you drop into the same problems and may tell me a bit more ;-)
In the mine time I will do the install on caldera open linux  and look forward doing it on the SME.

Hasta luego, Peter

You did configure netautor to use a pw for accessing mysql? It says that the script is not using one. You need to use the pw provided by /root/.my.cnf.

Dear Jeroen, what you are saying is very clear to me ;-)
The thing is that when netautor does the preliminary setup it does connect to the mysql db using psw with success. Just drop me a line on private email and I'l give you access to the box so you can see yourself ;-) The fancy thing is, it worked ones but refuses to work again ?! I still believe there is something wrong with mysql. Don't know if it's because of the psw reset or other mismatch. Netautor is a very good software and could improfe the SME  in many ways. I'll get it to work again, that's for sure, but if the SME will keep this kind of behavior when dealing with "non SME apps" even in future relaises I believe big market shares may be lost just because of not provideing the interoperability
requested by SME customers. And as we all know, WCMS's and frameworks are just one click away. Getting some coffee now ;-)

Cheers, Peter
