SME 5.12 data: where in partition?
« on: July 11, 2002, 04:57:28 PM »
Hi,
I'm trying to recover data from e-smith... problems after a power surge or hdparm misconfiguration... still don't know!

I boot up with RH 7.3 in rescue mode and mounted /dev/hda6 (my 8Gb data partition!) but was unable to discover where is user data!

I was able to find a diskused batch I created to show how much disk was used but nothing else!

I was unable to see /home ? Why?

Where E-Smith store his own data?
Where is web page? Where are

Using midnight commander, I find user data under:

/home/e-smith/files/users/

Information bays and the primary web page:

/home/e-smith/files/primary

/home/e-smith/files/ibays

Jader,

Maybe the partition you are mounting is not the correct one. I notice during boot of SME that there is a /boot partition and one other (root, or /).

Just an idea.

Oluf,

That could to be a good idea, but I just have one 10Gb HDD with just one 8Gb data partition... I issue one fdisk /dev/hda and show all partitions but after mount the right one I was unable to see my data.
Later I discovered that there is a few linux tool to try to recover lost data...

I already has done a fdisk /mbr and MS DOS 6.22 format to CLEAN everything!
I was furious... now I'll restart and reinstall from ZERO!

Thanks!
