Hi, could someone tell me how I can get to the screen prompt?
I can quit out of the console but when I do all I get is the login prompt and I want to be able to find out what my external IP address is by typing ifconfig...
Any advise?
Cheers

You can switch to another console with alt-f2 or alt-f3

Login as root, not admin. Same password.
Hate to say this, but it's all in the docs...

That is possibly the most mind-boggling thing I have ever read in this or any other forum. "Time restrictions"? So you'll waste OUR time but yours is more precious? Give me a break! (Preferably of your typing fingers!)

From the command line prompt type IP ADDR and this will tell you all the addresses you need.
BTW with the new SME manual available ONLY in HTML I find reading the thing time consuming as well. PDF is by far the better option.

I always thought this forum was a place to be used after one had read the manual. Protocol and all that, I second Michael Smith's coments and will be sure to ignore MTS posts in the future.
