Primergy Server TX100S3
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:58:33 PM »
Hi, I am trying to install on the above. It has a LSI raid controller built into the Intel Chip set - the BIOS calls it a megaraid SATA controller. However, the installation process does not recognise the controller. It appears that I need a Megasr driver. I have tried downloading the drivers from Fujitsu and burnt the iso onto a CD as per the RHEL instructions but using the option to install them from disk does not work as the CD is not accessed.

I'm not very sure about what I should be doing to fix this please help

The quick answer: forget about that megaRAID controller!
Just disable it on BIOS  and use just Software RAID included on SME.

Those pseudo-hardware-RAID has so many problems it do no worth the trouble.
Search for "megaRAID" and problems ... you'll understand why.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, The only options don't turn off just the raid. - I have tried all the options and nothing makes any difference. I'm guessing that the issue is not just the raid but the SATA controller.

I have been attempting to fix this. I have downloaded the Version 8 DVD and tried that and it installs so it looks like the issue is that the required drivers are not on the 7.x DVD but on the 8.X beta one. I am a bit wary of using the Beta but that maybe the only way forward unless there is some way of getting the correct drivers into the 7.X set.

I download your HW manual and seach for compatible OSs... there are Centos 5 but not Centos 4.x so just SME8 will work for you.
About to disable RAID, appears you do may to need read "ServerView Suite DVD 2"... maybe there are something about disable RAID at all!

good luck.
