getting smolt back online?
« on: March 27, 2012, 10:19:30 AM »
Was wondering if smolt.contribs.org will ever come back online?
It was very handy to see what hardware others were using, I also must admit that it was also great to see ranking of versions, ram etc.

Is it just a resources, bandwith issue?

Thanks Trex, missed that. I googled setting up a smolt serve and found very little useful information.
Does anyone know what contribs is hosted on? I see this on the bottom of the smolt.contribs.org page:

Apache/2.2.15 (ClearOS Core) Server at smolt.contribs.org Port 80

Perhaps I can set up a similar test setup and see what I find. I realize that this would be low priority for the dev team who are working hard to get 8 out.

Below is some information from the bug report.

The problem isn't with hosting a smolt server.  It is with getting it to run.  There isn't any documentation on running one and the directions for setting it up on a el5 didn't work on el6.  I've not had time to investigate why it doesn't work.

If someone wants to try setting up a smolt server I'd love any help I can get.  As far as pointing at fedora's smolt server, we can't do -that.  We've customized some of the things that are reported and it would mess up their database and stats if we did.
