Firewall Blocking Port 80...
« on: July 19, 2002, 12:54:39 AM »
I have searched on the this site for information about why I have no external HTTP access. I am new to SME server and I am new to Linux...

Not a good combination I konw but I must start somewhere.

If anyone could give me a hand in finding the soluiton that would be greate.

I have checked with my ISP and they do not block port 80...

The IP address of my external server is registed to a subdomain of my companies main address. (I am not sure if this would cause a problem)..

The installation of the server is pretty generic because I don't know what I am doing yet...

Thanks for any help on this subject

Ian

Your isp may not be blocking port 80 but possible the main firewall for your server is.  I would check in to that first.

There is no firewall between me and my ISP... Only the SME Firewall...

Hello

I am after a bit of advice for the best way to recover from a server failure. I have a system running a P3 1000 CPU on a board with an intel chipset. We are running software raid with 2 40gb drives. In the event of a server failure. E.G the motherboard dies. Can we take one of the mirrored drives and slot it into a machine also running a board with an Intel chipset and expevt it to run? (the Network cards would be the same)

Your advice on the excellent product would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance :)
