Topic: Install Panic Intel i915 not synching

I'm getting a message 'Intel i915 not synching'  after entering  sme  on booting the DVD with the i386 iso

This is an upgrade from a stable 7.6 to 8.0.  The error happens almost instantly, so I suspect it is a hardware issue, the MD5 checks out.   

Should I use the 64 bit version?   Am I missing something obvious?

That depends on how "obvious" you think the bold red text is when you post messages into the forum

Strange, I don't see bold or red when I read this

this is bold red if the interface is working, but the color doesn't seem to work, latest Firefox on Win 7

This is the earlier post as I get it back, is it possible my browser settings are leaking into the post? I certainly didn't choose the 'hrcolor'

and this HTML for the bold red I chose,  it does NOT display as red on my screen, although the font tags work!

Strange, your red works, mine is still black!

Ok,  I'll post it in bug tracker, I just doubt it is an SME bug.


But on a discussion level, should one use the i386 or the 64 bit as the default installation?

If you have lots of RAM, 64 bit. If you don't, probably makes no detectable difference.
