Install with Adaptec AHA1542C
« on: July 22, 2002, 05:57:53 AM »
Hi,

I´m trying to install SME 5.1.2 on 1Gb HDD with a Adaptec AHA1542C !
I saw on hardware compatibility list that AHA1520 should to work but ´my AHA1542C isn´t detected at all!
By search on forums I saw an comment about issue an dd command instead to use proceed but I never reach that point! I got an kernel panic I think it´s because install cannot find WHERE to install! It say no host SCSI adapters found!

Someone would to like to help... this is a test system, a very old test system with P166 (PcChips M537 -- not DMA ) + 32Mb RAM --EDO 72 not 168v!

Thanks!

Jáder

The dd should be specified at 'accept' (ie. accept dd) not at 'proceed'.

Thanks Kelvin. I'll try at night!

And after accept dd it will suppose to ask a driver disk?
It's the drivers image from CD ? Sorry to ask you, but I'll test this at night only!

Thanks!

Create the driver disk from the SME CD itself (I think that's where I got mine,.....it's been so long ago .....)

I know it works because I'm using an old ISA Adaptec as well ! Have fun trying !

Kevin,

Sorry to send you TWO blank messages (besides that you write).
That 2 buttons are so close that I can resist to push BOTH of them! :-)

Thank you by your help. I'll test this tonight! LATE!
Tomorrow I'll let you know about my luck!

Thanks!

I just have tested once because was late 23h (11pm) and I'm married!
But after I issue "accept dd" intead of "accept" nothing changed, it don't ask for drivers disk! It came into blue screen of Mitel and said that had no place to install.

I'll try again tonight! And tell you tomorrow morning!

Thanks!

I issue an "accept dd" command but it never ask for a driver disk!

When it should to ask for disk?

Could I force a driver disk module?

Thanks!

Hey!
I remembered something you would to like to know:

I´m booting from floppy!

My motherboard SHOULD to boot from CD but isn´t doing!

Thanks!
