kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init! - 1HDD
« on: August 03, 2012, 10:53:57 AM »
Hi,
i have SME server with single HDD (500GB),
then i want to add the mirror / the RAID 1
but the process is taking time - it almost 1 weeks and it still not finished yet,

i think the primary HDD are having problem with the speed.

it because, i dont want to lose any data,
i try using clonsezilla to clone the HDD to a new HDD,

then i am using the new hdd as the runing system, with single HDD

but, i cannot boot the system
i found the the error messages :

kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init!

..

How to resolved this problem

regards,

1) don't use clonezilla
2) file a bug in bugzilla
3) check /var/log/messages.. there should be something wrong with your hw, 1 week is definitely too much time..
4) be sure you have a good backup
