What is Zend PHP?
« on: November 20, 2012, 12:30:46 AM »
I am not fully understanding how Zend Server benefits servers that run a lot of PHP applications. What exactly does it do, and should it be researched more for installation into normal systems? Is it only a development environment for making php applications?

I Still Don't KNOW WHAT I AM DOING. Please, don't assume I know anything about Linux or Centos, I just know hardware

Well, it is not installed from the SME server CDROM, so your question is off-topic for this forum.

That said, google knows more about Zend that you or me. Ask google.

I asked the question wrong. Does zend replace sme php, our does it compliment it. From what i'm reading, it optimizes php applications, but I seen a thread from Charlie saying it's not good to install because of some interference with sme php, does that still stand?

Zend Framework is a simple, straightforward, open-source software framework for PHP 5 designed to eliminate the tedious details of coding and let you focus on the big picture. Its strength is in its highly-modular MVC design, making your code more reusable and easier to maintain.

cfr here

you should study it prior to decide you need it
if/when you need it, you should use another pc/server, not your production one.. and, preferably, not SME
