workstation backup in Virtual Box
« on: November 23, 2012, 08:02:45 AM »
Hi .

I have set up a virtual network using Virtual Box on a MS Windows XP host with SMEserver 8.0 and one virtual MS Windows XP client for testing and training purposes. Everything seems to be fine except workstation backup... I have set up a share on the virtual XP client and used every variation on the configuration settings that I can think of. The log file is consistently coming up with

Status code returned 0Xc000005e NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -5
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -5

Am I missing something?, has anyone got workstation backup running inside Virtual Box?, is this a Virtual Box problem? (from a google search it sounds as though CIFS shares can be unreliable in Virtual Box).

Thanks

Hi

Just noticed your post. I have 3 SME servers running in virtualbox, however my underlying server is Ubuntu 12.04. I back up mine daily via smb to another server running freeNas. Issues I had were with the share permissions, once that login and password matched both ends, then it should work without issue.

Regards Paul.

does the user you use to connect to virtual xp have a password?
