I have need to access the FTP from the outside world. It would appear that there are missing components to the basic sme8 server, when I finally found the possible cure, “download and install remoteuseraccess” it says the pat is not found, what gives, it appears that some information is lacking? I have follow the directions in contribs.org to no avail. HELP

you already have it:
- did you enable ftp access from "remote access" page in server-manager?
- is your server in server and gateway mode or server only?
- did you read the manual?
- finally, could you please tell us what you need (be verbose, thank you) and not whato you think you have to do to achieve it?

i host web sites for customers some (to my dismay) want to edit their own site, this seems to be a reasonable request just can't make it work?

in server only mode you need to enable port forwarding on your router/firewall.. did you do?
btw, if something is not working out of the box, you should open a bug (link above)

you don't need to make your face blue, you'd tell us what's going wrong
"it doesn't work" doesn't help us

anyway, I repeat: "it doesn't work" doesn't help us to help you

gave up on server only mode don't need it!

ftd (blue in face) used directions listed in contribs (later determined that file is missing)

following directions does not always work if someone has left out part of directions (usually something implied but not given)

yum --enablerepo sme7contribs install smeserver-remoteuseraccess come back repository not found!

Stefano is very kindly suggesting your REALLY need to read the setup section he so clearly directed you to. Maybe you skipped the SETUP section of that page?

well, yes.. I wrote it
you MUST read it again and MUST create sme7contribs as per wiki page..

Yes, that's why you posted here....

Some contribs are made for SME7 but are compatible with SME8, therefor you need to follow the SETUP section to make SME7 contribs available to your SME8 server
