Im sorry, but I do not understand your question. The e-smith server does work with a dialup Internet connection - you set that up through the console, not the web admin screen.

It is quite difficult to do what you want to do. As well as the system password database, the e-smith server has a windows networking password database (to allow use with Windows 98 and Windows NT) and an apache access database (to allow access to the web interface for changing passwords) and it is not possible to convert from one to the other.

That is now a frequently requested feature, and as soon as there are enough development resources available, then it will be provided - unless someone contributes a solution before then.

Permissions is the word you are searching for.

There are more options for permissions in e-smith 4, which will be released some time this month. A beta test version is available for download now.
