Topic: Make a planet-SME_Server

I am seeking ideas and good intentions. On page http://wiki.contribs.org/The_future_of_SME_Server we have talked about the idea of embellishing the site, make it more beautiful may be rendering ​​with a more professional.....and many other stuff...take a look please.
These are very good ideas we need to apply, but I have another idea that might also interest people and help to know the SME Server.
In fact, our distro suffers from a lack of visibility, few people know us.
I will wish for it to make a planet SME_Server which would have  collect all the articles we publish on our website, as long as they deal with the same thing, our favorite linux.
For my part I have a website where I publish my HOWTO, it would centralize all this and give us a better visibility, it would be easier to get the information as your accomplishments.
So I would like to know if some are interested for that you just have to put the tag that goes well on your articles, like SME_Server. The magic of RSS will do the rest.That if those who are interested are willing to come forward, and why not post the link on their website that talks about the sme, I'm interested.
I think that a planet as the http://www.bilboplanet.com/ could be a good start but the important is the idea, the way to accomplish will follow.

I do not fully understand what you are suggesting.
All documents, wiki articles etc etc, are centrally located on contribs.org so why duplicate them elsewhere ? It just sounds like more work to me for no real benefit.

There is already the domain smeserver.org in existence which resolves to contribs.org. It was a seperate website years ago, meant to promote the "commercial" side of sme server, but there was insufficient "people resources" to justify maintaining that seperate site.

Both the domain names contribs.org & smerserver.org can be advertised & promoted widely & wherever desired on the Internet, by anybody who wants to.

You say you publish your Howtos on your own web site, assuming they are sme related, then it would be better that you publish them on wiki.contribs.org

english is not my native language, therefore it could be hard to explain what is exactly my idea....

The wiki language is worse than chinese for certains people, and a blog where we can agregate other sme website it could be a good idea.
look at the planet zentyal....it aim to go to read it...there is nice color, nice picture.

speak about, speak well, speak bad but speak of SME Server

I don't want a new place where we put howto, i want a place where we can speak about our realisations about customers or non profit association, our project.

Planet it's a new way and i think that people which want to agregate their feed don't go to wiki to edit page.

I'm with you Stephdl, this is just another way of spreading the word, all roads still lead to smeserver.org and contribs.org, the way you get there is the key.

Many ppl now only know the land of facebook etc, simplistic I know, but unfortunately true, you have to entice them to get involved..at least that is my view.

Whatever happens at least ppl are getting involved and that has to be a good thing.

As always has been said here, if you want to do something, nobody is stopping you.
Feel free to create such a site.
The merits & effectiveness of a planet site will be determined in time.

I would ask, are there enough changes or posts happening on contribs.org to make for interesting reading on a planet site ?

Of course the more users that can be attracted to SME server, the better.
In that bunch of people there may be a few who can contribute development time, which greatly needed.

I want to be more involved for now that i was in the past. Why i don't know, may be it's the crisp effect.

therefore i'm looking to the documentation, wiki editing, a little more money every month....otherwise it is the cerebral dead of the project SME Server. Normally the project of a planet will need ressource to moderate articles, less for writing them, I hope so.

Ok....just do it !!!
