I installed 5.1.2 a few months ago as a test server since my experiences with version 4 were less than encouraging and to my delight everything worked perfectly.
It was installed on an older box with an 11Gb hdd and only had my mp3 collection on it but it had upgraded with update 1 and 2 and i'd installed the mp3 blade as well.
I recently decided to install it as live on my main server with a larger hard drive but now find that update 1 has disappeared and update 2 will not install due to a version discrepancy...
Now, I know the fix has been done to death and the regulars here are getting antsy about the questions so I'm not going to ask how to fix it... more... why I should fix it?
As I paid nothing for the product I expect nothing in return - however, I originally started using and *recommending* e-smith both to friends and small businesses alike because it took the work out of Linux, a LOT of work out. Now I'm having to learn about wget and rpm and chmod...
What's the point? If it really is getting this complicated I'll go back to swearing at W2k servers.
