3 easy q's
« on: July 31, 2002, 02:17:57 AM »
1) I can see my homepage using the address www.martinhansen.homeunix.net on my internal network. Nobody from outside can. How can I test that from inside?
2) Using the same address except from https://.... it can be seen from outside. Why not the normal one?
3) Also I added a php, that also does not work :http(s)://martinhansen.homeunix.net/test.php

Why is life so tough
Ps. I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 5.5 but got a lot of allocation errors and had to revert to old version. Is that normal?

thanks!
Martin

1 + 2) Could it be that your ISP is blocking port 80. See this thread:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=2982.msg10079#msg10079
3) I get a line saying "Test af mit første PHP program, Der virker (måske)" at
https://martinhansen.homeunix.net/test.php

Thanks - I put the q. to my provider.
Q 3 is supposed to read, what you quote, but added to that should be some more generated by the php program. I was just wondering if you could place the php testprogram in the root. Also wondering if the php compiler was actualling activatet.

thanks for your promt response

Hi Martin,

When I look at your test.php script, I get this (lots of spacing):

New Page 1

Test af mit første PHP program, Der virker (måske)

(Hvad laver FrontPage på din side? ;-) )

It has just been confirmed, that quite of few severes were misused for sending spam mail, so the provider just closed them there ports. Thanks for you help.

Now I'll try to figure out how to change those portnames. I understand that should do the trick, right?

Thanks

Well, if the ports were closed due to spam, it would be port 25, which is blocked.
Port 80 doesn't apear to be blocked, but is redirected.

Do you have a router inbetween the e-smith server and the internet ?
If so, and this has a web based config program, there is your problem.
