Dear All,

I already install SME Server 8.0, but there message SME Server Cannot find the driver of Ethernet.
I get driver from HP, but I don't know how to install this driver.

If you have suggestion, please answer this topic.

Thank you very much.

There is no support in SME server for installing additional drivers from HP. Your hardware is not supported in SME8. It will be in SME9. I'd recommend you buy an Intel NIC and use that.

Hi, evirusnadi,
Read the reply from Charlie again:
1) there is no support in SME for your hardware
2) buy an Intel NIC (Network card) and use that.

Total cost less than $20.

That's something I had to learn myself - how to look at the money I spent as the price not to have to worry about whatever was causing the problem ever again.

Cheers - and good luck.
Ian

For most cases in using wireless access. For SME server I would use an external wireless bridge, external wireless client, or an ethernet over power line solution' the later might be your best and cheapest cost.

By using an external wireless bridge or client wil allow you to place the equipment in the best  wireless sweet spot location to have a good wireless connection.

purvis, I sincerely can't see any relevance in your post with the topic..
OP is asking for installing an unsupported nic..

purvis.. I don't see any kind of suggestion..

I would say "OP could use this/that kind of solution, I've tested it and it works.." and so on to SUGGEST something

you simply say "I do it this way".. maybe your suggestion is a bit too hidden? :-)

I wish you would just not be rude and be quiet.

I don't believe that Stefano was being rude, and I was close to saying exactly the same thing that he did.

OP has a problem with a wired NIC not working. I don't see that your post about wireless has any relevance, and doesn't help the OP solve the problem that he/she is reporting.

My apologies then to Stehano.
Seeing the word Broadcom, I figured the network card was wireless. I was not aware Broadcom technology was in a wired network cards.

I guess i need to practice the advice given to me more.

Follow advice about the add-on card . . .  8)
You may consider as a general rule that desktop class pc/mainboard may have a poor driver support on linux server distributions.
Usually an entry level server product by Hp/Dell/Ibm may be a cheap&supported solution for you Sme/Centos/RedHat/Sles/Zentyal ecc...
Furthermore adding extra/compiled drivers expose your server to potential problems every time You update the software (and the kernel . . . )
(Repetita juvant . . . . )

I already install SME 9 ...

SME9 does not yet exist. There is only SME9 alpha, which you should only install if you wish to test it, and report any problem that you find, via the bug tracker. It isn't ready for production use.

Since you have installed SME9alpha, and you have found a problem, please report the problem via the bug tracker.
