On the original topic, my only comment would be that I wish effort would go into development/test/documentation rather than politics.
That is music to my ears

As I am re-reading, there are some direct points that I've not addressed from ClearFoundation's perspective and need to be said to provide clarity.

Dave,

thanks for providing clarity regarding ClearFoundation's role/involvement. Much appreciated and an impressive effort as a foundation and the level of professionalism.

As you indicated, this clarity should have been provided to the community upfront, or even during any discussion, so any confusion could have been prevented.

Thanks,
guest

I'm only going to respond briefly to this, as the Koozali Board are still trying to figure out exactly what is going on.  I was just as much blind sided by David Loper's post as everyone else.  As one of the Koozali Board members, I can say that none of what David said was discussed with anyone on the Koozali Board, except maybe Shad.  Our understanding of the situation and hosting arrangement is much different than what he described.

SME has been and always will be an Open Source first project.  ALL OF US take this very seriously, which is why we all spend many hours our own personal time and donate our own personal money to further the project.

The board, specifically myself and John Crisp, are reaching out to David Loper and Shad to determine the exact details of the hosting arrangement.   Our primary concern is that our community content is safe and stays in the control of the SME Community "period."

More details will follow as soon as we have them.

Thank you.

Was there anything more to say about Dave Lopers comments & indications etc.
I did not see anything personally wrong with the information he provided, hard hitting perhaps, but Shad has a right to sell his equipment if that is what happened, & he has a right to setup whatever sharing or usage agreement he wants to.
Why ?
Simply because no one else is doing it or has offered to do it (for this community), & no one else has put forward any better & as reliable & as trustworthy a solution.
The backend system behind contribs.org etc has grown to what it is today & by popular usage people here have been happy to accept the charitable assistance that Shad & others have provided, essentially for free.

Simpy said, Beggars cannot be choosers.

Does this issue of backend hardware & hosting etc have anything to do with claims made by "some people" that the current board & Koozali Foundation are illegitimate, as per your other recent post calling for a vote ?
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

I wanted to close the loop on this topic.

An official joint press release by Koozali Foundation and Clearfoundation can be found here:  http://www.prlog.org/12168192-koozali-foundation-home-of-the-sme-server-to-share-portion-of-clearfoundations-server-farm.html

The key elements of this press release that relate to this thread are:

1. Koozali Foundation, Inc and ClearFoundation are sharing the same hardware and data center;

2. Koozali SME Server community content and ClearFoundation community content are each controlled by administrators of their respective projects on distinct and separate virtual servers.

Beyond this, it is business as usual for the Koozali SME Server Community.

Please join in and help your project by donating, testing, bug verification, or any other area of the project you feel you might lend a hand.  This project will be what we each make of it.  Let's make this the best distribution we can!

WOW! I normally read all the post in a topic, but this was just too long. I will ask a question though:
How did he become a board member? I want one!
SME 8.0
Quad 6600
8gb DDR2 800
8 TB RAID 5
Dual Gigabit NIC
I Still Don't KNOW WHAT I AM DOING. Please, don't assume I know anything about Linux or Centos, I just know hardware
