I have been looking for a very lightweight way to implement a simple GTD (Getting Things Done) productivity / To Do list.

I have found Your Tiny Todolist. It is a FOSS / LAMP project:

It was a very simple install on my SME8 (to an ibay) and having spent a few hours playing with it on my test server, I am liking it.
BTW I am playing with the 'latest stable'.

I have nothing to do with anything linked to in this post (other than trying out this ToDo list  ).

FYI 'Your Tiny Todolist' is a fork from the 'My Tiny Todolist' project - http://www.mytinytodo.net/

Anyway, I wanted something super-simple and LAMP - hence my interest in 'Your Tiny Todolist'.

I am very happy to do this.

Before I go ahead I would first like to establish:
(1) that it is in fact a useful bit of software (i.e. use it for a period), and
(2) that it does what it says on the tin i.e. that it's not buggy.

Once I have confirmed the above two points, I will certainly be happy to try my hand at a contrib.

One of the reasons that I put this in 'General Discussion' is that I am interested in what others are using.

i prefer a solution fully integrated in an agenda/contact/mail/ software like in sogo, (may be zarafa) hordes with good pluggins or owncloud.

I think it is painful to change your application if you want to do something different

I agree with you, but the Groupware options seem to be very weak on 'tagging' for even a simple GTD / productivity implementation.

Horde  - is technically the strongest in Tasks (by quite a margin). It has tagging and multiple lists, however, the demo is PAINFULLY slooooow. It really inspires no confidence in me at all. Uggghhhhh - I want to run away and hide.

SOGo -  is next (far behind though) only because it is fast and simple (and has a GREAT calendar) IMHO. No tagging AFAIK. It's categories are shared with the Calendar. Under 'Preferences'  - Tasks aren't even mentioned. Very last century.

Zarafa - no tagging. Pretty well thought out Tasks, but not as easy as SOGo.

eGroupware - 'Todo's are buried in Calendar. I can't see any tagging and aren't particularly intuitive

Open-Office - Has one thing that might be used for one tag. Not there IMHO.

ownCloud - this can sync Tasks, but none of the Groupware (other than Horde) has advanced (read any) Tagging.


So, back to 'Your Tiny Todolist' (YTTL), which I don't think can yet auto-synch. You can manually request an iCal export (*.ics).

... I find it difficult to believe that there isn't a better solution (with tagging).

Syncing is my priority because i'm rarely in front of my computer and thus  i use my android cell to sync my appointments, my tasks and particularly my contacts on an owncloud Instance hosted in my local network.
i'm not a   poweruser of tasks therefore this can help me, but i'm convinced that there are things better than this or i could do it in a better way.

I use the android application of marten Gajda caldav-sync, carddav-sync, contact-editor, tasks. One of them is a paid application (the caldav i think), the others can be used freely

i just want to add that with the plugin sogo-connector i can sync all my data between thunderbird and owncloud

I have noticed that my original link in the first post to Your Tiny Todolist is now dead.

I discovered an alternative (perhaps a fork) which is better:  myTinyTodo   ...   which I have installed on my SME server (easy install).
This is a strong, yet simple GTD (Dave Allen productivity) application. It takes some understanding and playing around to fully recognise the power of GTD.

I did have a look at the Github pages and note:
(1) that this uses a Flatfile database (one file) - does that mean one could put it on a thumb-drive?
(2) there is a sister project with a cron adaptation.

The cron adaptation (although I haven't looked into it) might address one of my criticisms of MTT - that it didn't have a page(s) to set 'repeating tasks' by user e.g.
- set a daily reminder to confirm all orders have been logged / sent
- set a monthly reminder to set new passwords
- set a VAT return reminder once a quarter;
- set an annual reminder to have the annual Accountant meeting to discuss the accounts one month before filing.

This could really transform the usefulness of this sort of app.
