Why docx files are excluded?
« on: June 20, 2014, 10:15:33 AM »
I am being asked by a client why SMEServer refuses to receive as an attachment .docx files.  Apparently these cannot contain macros as otherwise heyy would be .docm files.

I wonder if anyone has some background on this?

My users send and receive .docx files without any problems on SME 8, and through a SME 9 configured as a spam filter.

In the email filtering panel, have you blocked ZIP attachments ? (docx and xlsx are just ZIP files)

yes I have.

I hadn't quite thought that through. I see two patterns for zip files...

Yes, I added those a few months ago after the user started receiving "faxes" zipped up, and showed some sign of wanting to open them!

So, you should just unblock ZIP attachments and everything should flow ;-)
