Recommendations for Print Management Software
« on: December 11, 2014, 11:07:31 PM »
Hi All,

We have a colour photocopier on the ground and first floor as well as a plotter. They are all IP addressable. The client machines [w7] are all defaulted to greyscale however sometimes users print a doc that is first 2 pages colour, entirely in colour. Since getting the network copiers printing costs have gone up from 300 to 800 GBP / month and we need to get on top of this.

Can anyone recommend any print management software that will log print jobs/users/type[colour|mono] etc? I have a few spare boxes knocking around from the XP upgrades so could dedicated a box to this. We have some w7 licences also so it could be windows [or another, FOSS?]

Anyway which ever it is I am open to suggestions - free=better :)

Thanks!

Some network printer and multifunction device can log users print and copy with an internal accounting software (free to use).

Well I suggest you to use PrintConductor. It can log Print jobs and user types along with other data and works well with almost all the editions of Windows. It is a nice Printing Management Software. So it wont be a problem. You can try it at http://www.print-conductor.com
