Hi CharlieBrady,
I know the dhcp server will not be able to use the old ip address, because my isp blocked me from using it!
I ended up talking to a network engineer, who said in part:
"
Can please delete your lease files on the gateway and restart dhclient
"
So that's what I did, and we are away.
For some reason the existing leases were clashing with the new leases, and the dhcp ddclient was not refreshing its lease files.
I have another problem, but it will be the subject of another message.
Many thanks to all who helped me with this problem.
What are you seeing that makes you say that? How do you know that the dhcp server is unable to obtain another ip address, and how do you know that the old static IP address details are at fault? Please describe exactly what you have done, and what you are seeing.
