IMAP in SME 5.5
« on: August 21, 2002, 06:42:44 AM »
Please help!

How do I turn on IMAP in v5.5? I used User Manager in v5.12. Even Darrel May's how-to is a dead link @ http://www.e-smith.org/cgi-bin/contrib.cgi

I'm sorry if there was a post elsewhere on this board, but I've searched for two days and haven't found anything yet.

Thanks in advance!

Well, you don't--it's turned on by default.  What's the problem?

Dan,

Thank you for the quick response! I figured that out after I posted. Should I still load the User Manager panel package 0.0.1-6 for vacation messages and filtering?

Ah, I see.  Wouldn't really know the answer, though, and Darrell apparently hasn't seen fit to update his links here since he rearranged his site.  I'd expect if you went to the downloads section on myezserver.com, you'd find the latest version of this RPM, but I don't know if it works with 5.5.

Dan,

Thanks so much for your responses! I just wanted you to know I have been
using SME Server since v4.x, so I do try to figure these things out the best I
can... :) What do you use for vacation messages, etc? Also, last night I tried
to import an Outlook CSV contacts file into IMP and now I get this message when
I try to access "my addressbook" in IMP: "Failed to connect to the specified
directory."

How can I fix this?

Sincerely,

Well, I don't mess with vacation messages at all (my SME is at home, so I don't need them there).  The "failed to connect" message sounds like a bug I reported shortly after 5.5 was released.  To correct it, try logging in as root and doing this (all on one line):

# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /home/httpd/html/horde/turba/config/sources.php

No, it's the contrib index which is out of date. I'll see what I can do to make it up to date. (There's a warning here for website maintainers - be careful if you rearrange your website - who knows what existing links will break. Best is to leave the existing website in place and add the new one over the top. Your index.html will take folk to your new design, but existing links will still work).

Dan,

I tried this and the addressbook still doesn't work. It doesn't allow me to manually
ant addresses and I still get the same error in IMP:

Failed to connect to the specified directory.

Any help from anyone is much appreciated!
