We are using till 4 years SME 7, I would like to upgrade to the last SME 9 version, is it possible ? Should I migrate first from the 8 version ?

It depends on your network requirements.
Typically & for many people/most situations you would select server only mode.

If you want a DMZ then you would select server & gateway mode & then select a static IP during the initial Configure this server screens.
