Take a look in the remi repository and install all relevant rpms to ocsinventory (specially ocsinventory-agent) and try to collect informations
yum install ocsinventory\* --enablerepo=remi,epel
I must admit i don't know about this piece of software. If power users could take time to taste it....i could waste my time on other development area.
At the end if you think it is valuable we could try to use the couple ocsinventory/glpi
