Madsonic contrib and media folder/directory
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:34:20 PM »
I've installed Madsonic contrib on a fully updated SME 9.1 server. I'm having problems getting Madsonic to 'see' my media folder, though I suspect it is more down to me not really knowing/understanding how Madsonic does things. I've tried putting my media in a folder in my home share, which on SME is:

Code: [Select]
/home/e-smith/files/users/jim/home/Music
Madsonic says 'folder not found'. I get a similar result if I create an ibay, and put my media there, for example

Code: [Select]
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/media/files/Music
However, if I use
Code: [Select]
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/media then Madsonic 'sees' it, but I can't do anything with it.

Any pointers would be much appreciated, thanks.
Jim

You can put your media anywhere you want as long as you use the madsonic interface to point to the directory you added your medias. And you can have as many locations as you want.

Thanks. I eventually got it working, but I had to put my music in an ibay, and then add the madsonic user to the shared group using the command line. I'm hoping to find some time to poke about a bit more, and see if I can replicate the problem on another machine. If I can replicate it, I'll create a bug.

Indeed, your madsonic user should be able to at least read the content of the folder, so either be member of the group or readable by everyone.
