Statistics for denied, incoming email
« on: September 26, 2016, 07:53:16 AM »
I run a mail-server with various spam protection mechanisms, including fail2ban, DNSBL, and RHSBL.
No. of queued emails684
No. of denied emails 2829
Reasons for denial:
Auth (wrong username/password)1435 %
Relay (unknown receiver)562 %
DNSBL245387 %
RHSBL251 %
Host (e.g. ylmf-pc)1254 %
Spamassassin30 %
Clamav10 %
Early talker70 %
TLS negotiation120 %
It is interesting for me to see how much spam is handled by DNSBL, and how little impact Clamav and Spamassassin have.

Hi Jesper,

Which DNSBLs are you using?

Have you seen this post from me: https://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,52665.0.html

Hi Jesper

Here is some small statistics regarding the DNSBLs and RHSBLs I use:

  Spamhaus:          3596 (97 %)
  Spamcop:             11 ( 0 %)
  Uceprotect:          27 ( 1 %)
  Uribl:               21 ( 1 %)
  Barracudacentral:    31 ( 1 %)
  Surbl:               10 ( 0 %)

And yes, I saw your post - your suggestion looks fine to me. But I also feel I'm doing quite well with the lists I already have. I see very little spam get through.

/Jesper

PS: As some of you will have already noted - Jesper is quite a common name in Denmark ...
