Topic: Sun ASP on SME?

Hello everyone,

I am somewhat new to Linux and very glad I found E-Smith.  I have done two installs and they have been painless.  I think it is a great product. Easy and simple. Thanks to the developers.  My question is, I would like to put the Sun ASP program (formerly Chili-Soft ASP) on my e-smith server so that I can totally replace my Windows machines.  Has anyone done this?  Does anyone know if it would be difficult to do?  Any advice or point in the right direction would be greatly valued.

I've done it and it's rather easy, however, because E-Smith is a templated system it will be necessary to create a custom template for the httpd.conf directives.

To be honest I blew Sun ASP away because I like PHP better (I do ASP at work, PHP in my spare time), I'll reinstall it just for the purpose of creating the how-to.  From what I remember it was really easy.

Thanks for the info.  I have just started exploring exactly what templates are so if you do get time for a mini how-to it would be greatly appreciated.  However, I am sure eventually I will figure it out.  I agree with you on PHP and I am learning PHP and Java in my spare time, but I have thousands of lines of code on web sites that I cannot readily replace.  However, I have decided I am not going any farther with Microsoft technologies!
