SME 5.5 boot up problem
« on: September 01, 2002, 07:30:01 PM »
Hi All,
I have installed SME 5.5 and all seemed to go well until it reboots. I get the Mitel logo screen followed by;
Loading esmith
Error 0x10
boot: esmith
Loading esmith
Error 0x10
boot: esmith
Loading esmith
Error 0x10
boot: esmith
this just continues on and on, sometimes the 0x10 is replaced by 0xE0
Could this be a hardware problem?
PC spec is:
Gigabyte BX2400 MB
P3-450 CPU
256 MB SDRAM
Samsung 4.3GB HDD
1.44MB FDD
SyS AGP 8MB Graphics adaptor
52x CD Rom

I have been runnung e-smith 4.1.2 for over 18 months on a different PC with no real problems.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I had several issues trying to install SME Server (V5.5)

(a) If you have one hard drive in your system, and it is setup on the primary controller and is a the slave (being the only drive on the primary controller), and you have a CD-ROM as a master on the secondary controller, and do an install everything works fine until the very end of the install where it blows up.

(b) Once installed I was hit with a grub prompt, but there was no menue that ever came up.

When I tried to enter grub commands to manually boot the kernel it told me I had an invalid kernel image.

What is up with that?

with IDE your boot device will be the Primary master - not the primary slave
