I have noticed one or two posts - apart from my own - from people with problems interfacing UPS to SME 5.5 or 5.1.

I have just got powerd running on my 5.5 box with a Leibert ups.  hooray!

I did it with:

1.  The UPS Howto (Harvey J Stein)

For those with trouble running powstatd - I suggest you try powerd.  Only shortcoming is that it only detects Fail and OK - not LO Batt.
