Testing moving a little server over to 10
« on: March 05, 2021, 04:06:59 PM »
I have built a new sme10b1 and added phpmyadmin. All OK
Mysql57dump of a wordpress db. Uploaded the relevant ibay html all ok.
But reach stumbling block as I need the webhosting contrib. Looking at the bug report it has an issue but i cant see how to install it to see.
I accept the risk of it dying but its a small thing that i will keep the 9.2 unit available for numerous attempts etc.

You need to be REALLY careful when testing contribs.

This seems to still be In Progress so likely in a dev repo and not working correctly.

As I have said before, we really don't want people randomly installing stuff from dev repos as you can totally bork your box with one wrong word. We know people are eager to get on to v10 but we've already had some disasters with people installing dev stuff without knowing what they are doing.

If you want to help test this talk to us on Rocket and we can give you specific instructions (search in the #sme10-contribs channel to see)

Otherwise wait patiently til it is fixed & released at least to a testing repo.

It's not a state secret. But if you want to test then better to work with us. You have a Rocket login, and we don't bite

Think this one has a serious bit of fixing to be usable though.

JP can advise more.

Terry added this (and the forum board is the correct one for Contribs)

https://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,54409.0.html

But as I mentioned this contrib is not yet functional and will likely break things.

Ideally it breaks and I can then give some feedback

It will as they already know the issues.

Just another on the long list of stuff that needs fixing......

It will install but depending on various factors will not work reliably or correctly.

See comments 5 & 6 (just trying to save you some wasted time!!). It may appear to work, and then won't.

It is not really suitable for use currently - hence only in the dev repo.

By all means have a play and if you find other issues report them on the bug.

Fixes are most welcome... :-)

i am about to fix few bugs on php to harmonize the properties between php ini, ibays former httpd settings and current php-fpm.

webhosting was failing because of that, after i fix this, you might be able to use it.
i also plan to add few settings in the gui.

... and I'm working on the Wordpress contrib, some issues with php-fpw and the latest version of Wordpress.

Got it working on WP 5.1.8 from the epel repo; wip for the latest version.

Track my changes here:

All comments, etc gratefully received.

I've always installed it in an ibay rather than use the contrib. Is that wrong?

No, that is fine if it works for you. I presume you backup and update the site yourself manually?

Seeing your comment made me realise I'd not had go at the contrib.

I meant to say the weekend on rocket, with affa, let's encrypt and Web hosting I can test but I'm guessing I'll need scl too for mysql/mariadb and php versions?
