/etc/cron.daily/logrotate linked to Squid errors?
« on: September 17, 2002, 10:43:07 PM »
Hello,

I am getting this error message emailed to me from one of my remote servers, running SME 5.5 w/update 1:

_______________________________
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:

squid: ERROR: Could not send signal 10 to process 1780: (3) No such process
error running postrotate script
_______________________________

As well, I get a message from the Cron Daemon that goes like this:
"/etc/cron.weekly/makewhatis.cron:  zcat: stdout: Broken pipe."
I believe that has to do with man, nothing to worry about.  (am I correct here?)

However, what is happening is that users from Windows machines cannot access the Internet.  They CAN check email, though.  At long last I rebooted the server, and noticed that it FAILED shutting down Squid.  When the machine was fully rebooted and the connection restored, the Internet worked fine once more.  Not for long, though.  As soon as I got that /etc/cron.daily/logrotate error, they again couldn't access the Internet.

What is going on, and how can this be resolved?

Thanks!
