I am interested in finding information on how to add the modules to imp that allow for extra features and functionality.
I am looking to do some stuff like this:

The second one is just some design modification, but the first one is some additional software. I am wondering if you guys know of a tutorial or documentation source for implementing these kinds of things on SME 5.5.
I am aware of the contribs folder on the ftp site, but I have questions. How do we know which work on which versions of SME? How do we know which are buggy and which are working great for many people?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
