this means you played with the anaconda partitioning tool and deleted SME partitionning in favor of Rocky /RHEL partitionning.  We do not use a dedicated LVM for home for SME.

No, I used the defaults, I have never used LVM, I dont like it. The first time installing I was presented with a choice between a graphic installer (first choice) versus a text mode installer (second choice) and I chose graphical. Trying again just now in a test VM, there is no choice but to use the graphic version for some reason, and after installing I see the default was to use LVM. Wasnt me, but thanks for the explanation, you were correct.

default is LVM when installing any el8 iso.

/dev/mapper/kss_rocky-home in your error, indicates :
- mapper = lvm is used
- kss_rocky = default naming of rocky formating tool in gui installer (that we do not use in our kickstart)
- home = dedicated lvm partition for home (that we do not configure using our sme kickstart)

again issue is not using the graphic installer or text installer, issue is entering the "installation destination" .  as soon as you even click on it (or select it via text installer) and hit back our kickstart is overriden.
to get it right you just have not to click on it while tempting to click on every shiny icons in front of you.
yes this is not ideal, but we do with the limit anaconda offers to us for the moment.  we might find a better way for the next iso.

Dont have click on anything shiney. Didnt see mention that text mode only should be used, odd the default is always to blame the user..

As of 11am awst (western Australian time) 18/2/25 downloaded sme11 alpha iso and installed without noticeable error on proxmox vm.
Only selected mandatory options (ie those in red that otherwise block installer, timezone and keyboard), left everything else as default. Did not press any shiny buttons.
From previous experience on anything derived from redhat installers, I avoid looking or changing anything that I don't have to. ymmv

Don't shoot tbe messenger. Complain to RedHat.

It's their installer, and if you knew anything about the complexity of it you'd know it's a place where angels and gods fear to tread.

We try and simplify a few bits in setup but generally touch as little as possible. Go off piste and you are on your own.

Currently this is strictly Alpha and we haven't even updated any docs yet. YMMV

So perhaps rather sitting their constantly sniping at people you could take your experience, do something positive, and help a bit.

Thanks.
