Next ISO release
« on: March 25, 2025, 04:44:31 PM »
It was mentioned that a new release will happen before too long, and I was wondering if a backup and restore of the Alpha 1 release will work with the new ISO?
I dont make many changes but I do add a few custom templates to enable DCC and disable RBLList, SBLList, etc because the default servers dont work for me.
btw, a few updates ago I began receiving the follow error with dnf updates, so will this affect the restore?

skipping packages with conflicts:
(add '--best --allowerasing' to command line to force their upgrade):
 MariaDB-server    x86_64       11.4.5-1.el8           smeos

Thanks for any info.

for the Mariadb upgrade this is a known breaking change that is something expected during alpha release.  see https://bugs.koozali.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12930

It is needed to indeed add --best --allowerasing for that update.

We use a rolling release model.  You do not have to backup and restore the server inside a same version of the server.  If you keep up to date your packages you already have an almost beta1 version.

As you pointed out previously, I stupidly clicked on something shiney and LVM was installed on this test system, so I want to erase and install with the newer release to be rid of it. So, I'll be seeing how well backup /restore works between releases.

Happy to report that Mariadb updated fine, and although I dont use webmail /Roundcube it has no issues that I can see, and I've relayed months worth of emails through the test system with no issues either.
