How to disable Squid and just use Masq
« on: October 09, 2002, 02:51:48 AM »
I've searched all the threads to no avail.
With 5.5 it looks like Squid is the default for HTTP traffic and I'd like to disable it and fall back to pure IP Masqurading.
How do I accomplish this.  Just stopping the service simply disables all HTTP traffic.  There's obviously something else I'm missing.
Thanks,
Mike

http://www.e-smith.org/bugs/index.php3?op=showBug&bugID=63 says it applies to 5.1 and is fixed in 5.5, but that command may help you.

Thanks for the post, Bill.  I tried that but looks like everything is still going thru the proxy.
Any other suggestions anyone?

Can anyone tell me how to get Squid out of the mix completely.
I have tried configuring the proxy to transparent=no and
rebuilding from the templates.  Stopping the service stops
http access - re-enabling the service resumes it.
I want to completely stop squid and just use masq.
I have read every thread in the group that has to do with squid and nothing posted works.  This is a 5.5 install.
Thanks for any knowledgable posts.
Mike

I downloaded the service manager from http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/e-smith-service-control/  and installed it.  Then you can disable squid from the services panel right in your browser.  Hope this helps.
