Topic: External Modem not found?

Hi folks, I am using e-smith for quite a long time now and i am suffering...

On 2 esmith 5.5 boxes with Update 2 applied i am totally unable to "find" the external Comports with the external modems.

I mean it does not even show me /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttys1 in minicom.

Both machines have comports enabled in bios and set that stuff for "automatic" configuration of irq.

I just want to use hylafax on these boxes, so what should i look for?

I'd hard-set the values for IRQ & I/O in the BIOS instead of relying on "automatic."  You might also try booting with a floppy-based distro such as FreeSCO to see if the modem's detected by another setup.
