Has anyone installed a hit counter on SME 5.5?

I've been playing with several that I downloaded, but those that I've found are exceedingly difficult to configure.

Thanks!

Depends what you mean by 'hit-counter'.  I use AWSTATS which is more information than most people need. I gives you informaiton for each separate virtual domain too.  You can find at "http://awstats.sourceforge.net/".  The e-smith version of the RPM is really easy to install and there's also a how-to for it as well.

What I mean by hit counter, is a counter that is displayed on a web page indicating the number of hits.

The info on awstats is useful, though.  Thanks.

You could try one of the external counters if you cant get your head round a cgi-script.

You can get one from here
http://www.bravenet.com/

or here
http://www.statcounter.com/

PS, I dont think you can install a hit counter on the primary web page, only on public script enabled ibays.

I haven't found any scripts that are simple enough to just drop in and use.  Is this really that hard?

I really don't want to use an external service.
