IP troubles

I have a problem. I need to run my SME 5.5 server with 3 IP adresses on 1 Nic.

The adresses are:

1: 192.168.57.1 (web)
2: 192.168.57.2 (FTP)
3: 192.168.57.3 (mail)

Now, you might find this odd, but there's a reason for it. I'm afraid my english isn't sufficient for me to be able to explain it. (i'm from Denmark)

Can it be done?

Regards
Thomas

Just by chance I found this how-to last night while looking for other info.

Following is a copy of an email from me to Bill Talcot.
It concerns the same problem:

Hello,
I saw your howto on multiple IPs on the SME server.
Can you tell me how I can create a bridge between 2 or three sublans using multiple NIC’s?
Thank you in advance!

I have no idea how to do this. There have been some threads here about adding extra interfaces to create several local subnets though...

As for the extra IP thing, I just stumbled across that in some Linux documentation one time. I thought it would be handy to assign our unused static IPs to the SME. However, this just assigns the IP to the NIC, it doesn't actually affect any of the SME's configuration stuff. I believe you also need to edit ipchains stuff to make it reasonably useful, though I don't know much about that area...

It seems to me that adding a nic is a logical way to improve throughput..
I remember the reasons for bridging Novell servers in the good old days but then we where restricted by the 10mbps nics. The argument was then bandwidth of course. A good hdparm with 100Mbps does wonders nowdays.
I am thinking about putting my EMS halfway in the cable with one nic for each side and adding a third nic for the coax part.
The info IO found is from Allen (4.1.x  How to add an additional network card (including a Token Ring one) to e-smith 4.1.x) I hope to get it figured out on 5.5!
