Ibay as shared drive with write access for everyone

I want to make the sme-server 5.5 into a file-server on our local network, but I don't want the hassle of setting up a user-account for every computer on the network.

It doesn't seem, however, that I can gain access to the ibay I have set up even though I set the "group" to "everyone" and I allow the group to have both read and write access.

My network is set up with a mixed scenario of win95, win98 and win2000 machines that also share an "official" drive on a linux-server - that I don't control. This works fine.

I can get access to the ibay with write priviledges if I log into the win machines with a user-account on the sme-server, but without being logged in the "everyone" setting is NOT for everyone.

What do I do wrong?

Well to access network drives PCs send a username/password. Since the user is not on the sme server then the sme server is behaving correctly and insisting on being given a correct username/password.

The only 2 things I can think of are :

1) setup all users on the sme server :incl. passwords
2) setup 1 user on the sme server say :

Name : smeuser
Pass : password

When a user wishes to mount the sme drive he will have to give the above details in to access the drive.
3) setup a guest account on the sme server. Not sure how to go abaout this though...... I havent got access to a sme server right now.....

cheers
