odeiavir / qmail issue
« on: December 10, 2002, 03:17:28 AM »
Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have installed odeiavir and all necessary extras (i.e. ripmime, f-prot etc)
and i have a problem..........

As i understand it, inserting "|/usr/bin/odeiavir" at the top of the user's .qmail file causes incoming mail to be piped to odeiavir, which in turn sends the mail's attachment thru f-prot.  I'm sure I have set up my odeiavir and f-prot configs properly, because if i manually tell f-prot to scan a file with the eicar test string in it the "virus" is detected, and if i then manually pipe an email file from a user's mailbox to odeiavir it sends a warning to administrator that a virus was found.  However, that mail with the virus still attached is delivered to the user!

So about the only thing that seems logical is that the .qmail file is not sending the emails thru odeiavir - so i'm thinking maybe there's a global .qmail file that is bypassing the individual ones??

Have i missed something, and is it anything unique to the e-smith distro?

Please help if you can!

Thanks
Allun

Allun,

Have you commented out or removed the line that says

./Maildir/

otherwise mail will still be delivered to the user.
