SAMBA error
« on: December 23, 2002, 04:32:35 AM »
hi,

i've just install a e-smith 5.5 server in my company LAN.
However, i've problem accessing the i-bays thru' the windows explorer of my Win95.

Currently, I've about 2 other linux server running RH 6.1 with an ealier version of samba.

I've also purposely set the password and username exactly the same as what i've done for both the RH6.1 servers and have no problem accessing the share files in both of them.

The error from windows explorer was
"intranet is not accessible, the computer or sharename could not be found. Make sure you typed it correctly, and try again."
(where intranet is the name of my newly created workgroup)

However, when i put the new server under an existing workgroup, the server name did come up but it is still unaccessible.

Hence,  quite strangely i also notice errors in the /var/log/samba/log.smbd
[2002/12/23 09:22:02] lib/fault.c: fault_report(39)
INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 7 in pid 1553 (2.2.4)
Please read the file BUGS.txt in the distribution
[2002/12/23 09:22:02] lib/fault.c:fault_report(41)
[2002/12/23 09:22:02] lib/util.c:smb_panic(1092)
PANIC: internal error

Could it be a compatibility problem?
Could i've miss out any step ?

thanks.

Do you changed your password using command line utilities or using web interface on port 980?

Because you can corrupt your Mitel SME if you use command line utils instead of web interface. If this is the case, just reinstall (about 20  mins to me!)

Hi Jader,

Oh.. but i didn't use the command line to set any passwords...
Maybe somewhere just got 'choke' .. hee...

Anyway, i've done a RE-install now (takes about an hour coz' i'm using a old Pentium server :O| )...

It works now!

Thanks!
