Delegate mail server/webmail/user

Hallo,
I have just setup the e-smith box and told it to to let my other box doing all the mail stuff .
My question is about the user accounts and the webmail interface.
Would it be poosible to setup an LDAP server as a unique source for authentication to avoid setup user accounts on the e-smith server ?
And  how would I tell the e-smith to use the LDAP based adddress book and most important, to display email when using the webmail interface ?
Otherwise, what is the "delegate mail server" option for ?

Thank you, Peter

Scot

Peter,

The delegate mail server option is use in order to hide your real server behind the firewall, thus not requiring you to put a port forward on to your mail server within your LAN. If you chose this option then you'll only have the functionality that your mail server on your LAN provides, no SME webmail etc. you also only need to worry about user accounts on that mail server.

However in say that does someone know if I can install one of the free virus/spam scanners in the above situation, ie will the SME still scan the attachments etc. before forwarding on the messages to the delegated mail server?

Cheers

If you can figure out how to set the e-smith mail server to only listen on localhost you can setup messagewall to accept the incoming email filter/scan it and then pass it off for the e-smith to handle. in what ever manner you have it configured.
