I'm trying to use esmith as a mail server only, it won't be functioning as a gateway and only has one nic installed. The server has a static ip on the internet and sits outside our corporate network. The network connects to the internet thru our firewall/gateway. The gateways external network is the same as the esmith server itself.
The problem I'm having is that unless I go under Local Networks and make the server wide open (using a 0.0.0.0 subnet), it refuses to send or recieve any messages, from inside or outside our network. Specifying the external address of our firewall as a local network doesn't make any difference.
Can esmith not function like this? Is the only way for it to send emails is have two nics and exist on our local network? I still don't see why it won't accept any email from the internet. I have set POP access to Public.
Note: It's not a DNS problem, because setting a local network with a 0.0.0.0 subnet allows mail to be recieved and sent with no problems. So I know all the names are right.
