I want to set up an SME server with only one network card. It will be a web/mail server but not a gateway. IN the install, it says that you need to have this box behind another SME server for it to be protected. Are IPTABLES not installed on a server only install? Does the server sit completely unprotected if it is placed in the DMZ? I need to create a temporary box for an IP transition and just want it to listen for mail web trafic for 4 days durring the transition so i dont need the gateway. Am I asking for trouble creating a Server only SME server on the external side of my firewall?
