Actually I did not have the 4.1.2 drive installed when I did the 5.6b7 install, I added it later to copy over my files and then never bothered to remove it (I had some customizations and it's nice to be able to check back now and then to see how I had did something). Disabling hdc in the BIOS didn't solve my upgrade problem. During my original install the cdrom was /dev/hdc and I later changed it to /dev/hdd when I put it the old 4.1.2 drive. Could this be my problem?
WRT using hdc instead of hdb I was worried that my cdrom would slow down the drive it shared a channel with, I remember recommendations to keep your fast drives together. Is it possible to change your configuration once you have it set up?
A correction to my original post, I am using RAID 1 not RAID 0 (of course).
